My Distill monitors recently started highlighting changes and truncating unchanged content. This appears to be related to the “Highlight changes” and “Snip unchanged content” checkboxes in Workspace Settings. However, I have disabled these and the monitors are still doing it. Any thoughts?
@jimmyvluv4u the settings to snip unchanged content and highlight changes are under email action settings. they apply to the email alerts.
a recent update introduced the ability to highlight changes in a monitor’s preview text. the amount of space available is for the preview is low. so, it trims unchanged content while keeping some unchanged text for context.
the current logic to trim content is a bit too eager to trim content right now. it can trim the content even when there is no need to – even when content is small. we are finetuning it so that preview content is trimmed only when it is needed and preserve more context so that it is easy to infer where the change is.
Any thought on making those settings configurable for monitor previews? Not really a fan right now.
totally fair. what’s the one thing bugging you the most about the new preview?
- the way the content is trimmed
- colors for highlighting the change
I have a single particular use case - monitoring price changes for a large number of flights that I have booked. The highlighting is whatever, but the alerts I have are quite short in length and it’s cutting off way more than I would think reasonable. I literally have no alerts that fill up the space for alerts and it’s cutting off the recent ones that have changed.
got it. i don’t like how text is being trimmed either specially for short text. it will be fixed soon.
update: an updated version was released early this week for all platforms that should make the diff summary much better. check it out and feel free to share your feedback. thanks!
