Hi. I’m monitoring some webpages that haver some form of ant-bot detection on the same IP and thus after successive checks the page then fails to load and provides an error. Sometimes this can be reset by clearing the browser cache / cookies in Distill. A better way for these website would be to load ISP proxies in the tool so this doesnt happen. Can I do this in Distill?
custom proxies can be used using the cloud monitors or using browser extension. you can use any proxy manager extension for the browser and they will be used automatically as checks happen in the browser’s tab for local monitors. the desktop app doesn’t offer an option to use a custom proxy yet.
Thanks. Though I dont think the browser extension is as effective as the desktop as when checks are made, each check has the URL page opened and checked and then closed. I think that is correct?
Is there a schedule to include this option in the Dev Book of work coming up soon?
this depends on users and what works for them. right now, the browser extension is installed by 10x more users than the desktop app. for majority, the browser extension is the preferred app. note that one can use “sticky window” for checks to avoid opening and closing tabs in the main browser window.
for some users, desktop app works better because certain sites do not load in a background tab.
i am not sure what a “Dev Book” is. did you mean the product roadmap? proxy support is planned but is low in priority.
Ah yes, product / development roadmap I meant. Thanks for the priority level on this.
