I’ve looked through all the forum posts on duplicate notifications. I have Global notifications turned off (0 global). I have only one action of any kind set up, which is Push notification. I use distill on my computer and have it installed on only one mobile device.
But every time there is a notification, the activity log shows it 3 times (and yes they all count against the limit). I’ve tried monitoring the whole page, and parts of the page and it doesn’t make any difference.
Not sure what else to check since global actions are 0 and they are not being duplicated that way. I’ve also tried it with the global action of the push notification and turning off all the other actions but that didn’t matter, either.
I monitor 5 pages once a day. Four of them just had changes and it is showing as 12 push notifications in the action logs.
I checked the Device area in settings and it shows 2 local devices (my browser, but it looks like old references so i will delete those) and 0 cloud devices. I didn’t get around to it this morning before the notifications came so I will check it again next time i get a notification to see if deleting those two local devices had any effect. Although it was just the Chrome browser so I wouldn’t think that should affect the push notifications.
Oh I see, thank you. Yes, it has been installed on other mobile devices in the past but just one currently. Also I had issues with current device having some adware on it and I reset it to factory a couple times. So distill was installed on the same device a few times.
Since the app was installed on multiple devices in the past (and reinstalled a few times), it’s possible that old device registrations are still active, which can lead to duplicate push notifications.
Could you please confirm:
Have you uninstalled the Distill app from all other phones/devices where it was previously installed?
Even if you’re no longer using them, those older device tokens can still receive notifications in the background.
Once confirmed, we can proceed with the next steps to solve this issue.
Hi.. yes, Distill is only currently installed on one device. I also waited until i got more notifications to see if removing the two old devices that show in the account had any effect, but it did not. Still getting 3 actions per notification. Thank you
@celticheart Since we need more details to debug the issue properly, please reach out to us via email at support@distill.io and we’ll assist you there.
Hi, I responded back to email but I don’t think you got it. Also, just replying to the email was a delivery failure. I then tried again, replying to support@distill.io but I still don’t think you received it. Anyway, yes, I did uninstall, reinstall and log back in. But now my 100 push limit has been reached so now I won’t know if it’s doing it 3 times until the beginning of next month.
Hi, actually since my push notifications already ran out for the month due to the triple instances, I decided the easiest thing to do is just start over with a new account. I think we’re both prob spending too much time on this I won’t know if anything is fixed until next month now, anyway I uninstalled on my mobile device, reinstalled and logged in with the new account. Hopefully that will take care of the issue for now. If I continue to have issues I will reach back out. Thanks!
@celticheart First of all, apologies for the delay in resolving this issue. We were actually waiting for your response to continue debugging, but it looks like your replies didn’t reach us for some reason.
That said, thanks for the update — and I understand why you chose to start fresh with a new account. Hopefully that helps stabilize things for now.
On our end, we’re continuing to look into this behavior so it doesn’t happen again in the future.
If you run into any issues again, please do reach out. And in case emails fail to deliver, you can always contact us via the live chat on our website: https://distill.io/
Appreciate your patience on this, and feel free to get back in touch anytime.
No worries, you’ve already gone above and beyond on this and I really appreciate it! But the pages I follow are not important, just a couple of entertainment pages, and I figured this was an easier solution than making you spend any more time on it But if I have any more issues I’ll let you know. Thanks again!
