Tracking new message indicator

I want to monitor a system called DialPad for changes in the number of notifications. Here is a screenshot:

My issue is that I’m not use which element to select or whether this desire is even possible.

I tried selecting the element that contains the red circle and number in it, but am getting errors because there is no text content selected.

Can anyone help?
