Sudden delay in notifications/alerts

Hey! I’ve been using Distill for around a month now. For the majority of that time, it has been really smooth sailing, I would get notifs instantly for stuff I had set at a 5 second interval and had minimal issues (apart from a couple “timeout”/”empty selection” errors that would eventually resolve themselves).

But in the past couple of days, I have started running into a delay problem. In particular, websites that I have set at the lowest interval (5 seconds), which would show up almost as soon as the page was updated until last week, now show up after a delay of about a minute (a couple times the delay has been 2-3 minutes). At first I thought this might have been an isolated or one-off incident, but I’ve faced it for 3 straight days now and I have no clue what has suddenly changed for it to go through such a big delay (1 minute might not sound like a lot, but when I’ve set something at 5 seconds, the difference becomes huge since ideally I’m hoping to be alerted about a change within seconds of it happening). I would really love possible solutions for this problem so I can get the notifs back to being instantaneous and eradicate this delay.

P.S. - Could the following in theory have any effect/cause the delay? 1) adding a couple more webpages to monitor, 2) reducing time interval on multiple webpages

Again, I am completely clueless what actually is causing the delay, but these are the only 2 things I change around here and there, so I thought I’d mention.

@gobby what do the logs show for this monitor? see Check Logs Guide - Monitor History & Troubleshooting | Distill

note that as more monitors are added to the watchlist, the effective check interval can increase as more monitors need to wait for their turn to be checked for changes.

I see. Well this is how the log looks for the 5-second interval monitor, no error message rn

(One thing this also reminds me is, shouldn’t there be more logs showing up for each minute? For instance 8:55 showing up 4-5 times rather than a single time like it does here? Or maybe they do get counted at that rate but just don’t necessarily show up in the logs?)

So overall, you’re saying I’ll have to reduce the number of monitors for it to become faster? I have 13 total rn, any other way at all it I could still cut the delay or this is it?

yes, this is one way. another option is to increase the maximum number of concurrent workers under the device’s advanced settings.

Oh dang, interesting. didn’t even realise I could toggle it like that so thanks for that suggestion. Gonna try and see how it goes this time and report back if it still persists, ty!
