I am based in mainland China. Could your team provide alternate download links, domestic-accessible mirror servers or other distribution paths for Linux users? Besides, it would be greatly appreciated to release official native RPM packages for Fedora/RHEL systems as another installation option, given the current Flatpak download channel is totally inaccessible under regular Chinese internet.
The browser extension version works fine, but I need standalone desktop software to run offline scheduled webpage monitoring without keeping browsers open all day, so add-ons cannot meet my daily work requirements.
Looking forward to your official reply and practical alternative download solutions. Thank you very much.
@tshore Thank you for your detailed feedback and for explaining the challenges you’re facing.
The SSL error you’re encountering may be related to network restrictions affecting access to the AWS-hosted download endpoint from mainland China. Unfortunately, we do not currently provide a China-based mirror, and the Linux desktop application is still in beta. At this time, we do not have plans to release additional package formats, such as native RPM packages, or alternative distribution channels.
That said, I have informed our internal team about your situation and your request for an alternative way to download the Linux desktop application. We also shared your feedback regarding domestic-accessible mirrors and RPM packages for consideration.
If we are able to provide an alternative download option or have any updates regarding accessibility from mainland China, we will get back to you here.
Thank you for your patience, understanding, and for taking the time to share your experience with us.
First of all, thank you very much to you and your team for your additional attention to my issue. Secondly, the problem has been resolved. I found that having the VPN on was the reason I couldn’t download the file, even though I had enabled PAC mode (rule mode) while using the VPN… It wasn’t until I turned off the VPN and the system proxy that I was able to download the flatpak from the official website. However, the download speed is very slow, often around 50 KB/s or even lower.
@tshore Thank you for the update, and we’re glad to hear you were able to resolve the download issue.
That’s interesting to know—the VPN and system proxy settings were apparently interfering with the connection to the download endpoint. Thank you for sharing your findings, as this information may be helpful to other users who encounter similar issues.
Regarding the slow download speed, unfortunately that is likely related to network routing and connectivity to the AWS-hosted download server from your region. We’ve noted your feedback and will continue to consider improvements to the download experience.
If you run into any issues with installation or using the desktop application, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We’re happy to help.
