On this website, I need to monitor the Board Members information, but it opens as a pop-up/modal rather than a separate webpage. Because the content is not part of a separate page, Distill only seems to consider the elements behind the selected area, even when I add specific selectors.
I also tried using the Desktop App, but I’m facing the same issue and haven’t been able to capture the pop-up content.
Is there any way in Distill to capture and monitor content that appears in this type of pop-up/modal webpage style? Or is there another selector/configuration approach that could work for this page?
@srimathi.venkatachal I tested this website using both Cloud monitoring and Local monitoring, and the Board Members content was captured correctly in both cases.
I’ve created a monitor configuration that tracks the Board Members section.
I imported this JSON file into the monitor, and when I saved it, it created new monitor. I then deleted the old monitor and made selections for the newly imported monitors with JSON file. Is this the correct way to handle the import, or is there a better way to avoid creating duplicate monitors?
Also, I noticed that the frequency is automatically set to 3 hours for the newly imported monitor aswell the old monitor. Is that expected, or can the frequency be set during the JSON import?
@srimathi.venkatachal Yes, importing the JSON creates a new monitor rather than updating your existing one. The recommended approach is to test the imported monitor first and, once you confirm it is working correctly, delete the old monitor.
The 3-hour frequency was included in the configuration when I created it. You can change the schedule to your preferred frequency after importing the monitor.
You can also change it during import by editing the interval value in the configuration before saving.
Hi, I imported the JSON into the monitor and set it up to run through the Distill Desktop App. However, I’m not able to make selections for the pop-up data in the Desktop App, although I was able to make the selections in Distill Cloud. I also don’t see an option to deselect elements in the Desktop App.
When I check for changes in the Desktop App, I’m not sure whether it is monitoring the correct details. However, the preview is showing the necessary data.
Could you please confirm if I set up the monitor correctly? Also, can I delete the additional monitor that was automatically created under Distill Cloud?
@srimathi.venkatachal The page’s pop-up content loads inside a separate frame, so selections for it is not currently supported through the Desktop App.
However, selections created through Distill Cloud or the browser extension remain part of the monitor configuration when you assign that monitor to the Desktop App. If the Desktop App preview shows the required data and the Check Log confirms successful checks, the monitor is configured correctly.
If you need to adjust the selection later, make the changes using Distill Cloud or the browser extension, then assign the monitor back to the Desktop App.
You can delete the additional Cloud monitor once you have confirmed that the Desktop App monitor is checking successfully and capturing the correct content.
@srimathi.venkatachal Also, when content loads inside an iframe, the Distill browser extension is generally better suited for selecting and monitoring iframe content locally.
