I don’t understand something on the first video showing how to record a macro on this help page Macro: Record and Replay Automated Actions : Why is she explaining to us that we need to click on “START RECORDING” after doing the actions ? I would have thought that registration was required before starting operations on the page.
Furthermore, the text on this help page, which contains this video, makes no mention whatsoever of using the START RECORDING button.
Thanks
@gpdf Thanks for pointing this out. The confusion is understandable.
When you create a new Macro, after entering the Macro name and website URL and clicking Add New Macro, the Macro Recorder opens with recording already turned on by default. This means any actions you perform inside the Macro Recorder are recorded immediately as Macro steps.
So in the video, the flow is:
-
The Macro Recorder opens.
-
Recording is already active.
-
The user performs the required actions on the page.
-
The user clicks the Recording button to stop recording further actions.
If you later want to add more steps, you can click Start Recording again. The button will then switch to Recording, and any new actions you perform will be added as additional Macro steps.
We recently updated the Macro UI, so the button text may not match older wording exactly. It no longer appears as Stop Recording. Instead, when recording is active, the button is shown as Recording.
You can also refer to this newer demo video with the latest Macro UI and buttons:

Hope this clears up the confusion. Let me know if you have any other questions about creating or editing Macros.
