I have a few operational questions regarding the use of the Distill desktop application installed on a Windows Server (VM):
If the desktop application is installed on a VM, will monitoring stop if the application is closed or the user signs out? Additionally, is there a way to run the application as a service so that it continues to operate even if the user is not signed in? (I understand that using the cloud version might be better for this purpose, but my question is specifically about the desktop version.)
How many email addresses can be registered as recipients for email notifications?
If there is an issue with the watchlist that prevents continuous monitoring, can an alert email be sent to the user?
Can multiple administrators be created for a single account? There may be a need for multiple administrators to log in to Distill and edit the watchlist.
yes, the application must be launched for it work when using the desktop app as the device to perform checks.
if is not possible to launch the app as a service.
any number of email address can be added to receive email alerts. please note that these are not user accounts and they can’t login to view the Watchlist.
Thank you for your detailed response. I understand everything.
I have two additional questions:
If “Trigger notifications” is specified in Error Actions, will all Watch list errors be subject to alerts? Is it correct to assume that an enterprise plan is required if you want to change the email address for error notifications for each watch list?
I would like to know more about the pricing and specifications of the enterprise plan. Is it possible to receive documentation on this?
Please note that error actions for local and cloud monitors are separate. You can configure the settings via the device watchlist for local monitors or the web app for cloud monitors.
To access error actions in the watchlist, click the hamburger icon, and then click on “Error actions”.
When using the local desktop app, must the error notification settings be configured on the desktop app itself? I apologize for not fully understanding the context.
Thank you for the reply.
Just to clarify, even when using the desktop app, I understand that we can log in from the browser to edit settings such as the watchlist.
Editing Error Actions from the browser does not affect the Error Actions settings of the desktop app ?
Is my understanding correct that I need to open the desktop app and edit the Error Actions settings there for them to take effect?
