Hello, I’m using the browser extension on some internal PCs which run the latest version of Edge browser with a super simple page monitor to play a sound when a page part increases.
Problem - I’m seeing on multiple instances now, different PCs, where all of a sudden the Edge browser extension completely loses the configured page monitor… it’s just gone, vanished. The extension is still installed, but then I have to re-connect to the PC and re-configure the page part monitor. Could Windows or Edge patching cause this? thanks
Hello @lucky1313, thanks for reaching and reporting the issue.
The storage API for Edge underwent a change due to deprecation and removal of WebSQL. The edge version is using OPFS + sqlite-wasm for storage. Both of them are new technology, so there can be bugs.
I am trying to figure out the factors that could cause this. A few questions to help understand root cause of the issue better:
Are you not signing into Distill account? The account can help backup data in the cloud and can restore it automatically.
Once data resets, do you need to reinstall the extension for it to work?
Are the monitors being checked at high frequency?
Do the monitors detect changes frequently or occasionally?

No, I haven’t created any Distill accounts yet on these, they were running just fine for a couple of weeks… but I could consider it

I did have to reinstall the extension on one PC about 10 days ago. This same PC, along with about 4 others recently just lost the page monitor that was configured, but have not experienced a complete loss of extension again on any of the instances yesterday - only the page monitor itself.
Are the monitors being checked at high frequency?
They are, yes. The page monitor frequency is set to check every 20 secs, with a 5 sec delay built into the config
Do the monitors detect changes frequently or occasionally?
I would say yes. I would estimate there are 20-60 changes detected per day on each of these PC’s we have this running on.
Thank you for the answers. We are running more tests to help reproduce the error. I will let you know once we have an update. In the meantime, do consider using an alternative browser or the desktop app. Sorry about the inconvenience.
