Audio and Popup Notifications Do Not Work

Hi folks,

My audio and pop up notifications do not work [event though I created one as a local condition] but my email notifications did until I ran out of them. Here are some of the relevant details.

1. I am using the trial version of distill.
2. Actions set are popup and audio [Asian Koel]. When I tested the audio [clicked play], I indeed heard an Asian Koel.
3. There are no global conditions that are set.
4. My browser is Firefox.
5. According to the Firefox settings, neither Distill or my monitor website has requested to send notifications to me.

Distill looks like a good app, but I want to make sure it will work for my needs before I pay for it.

@bryaneburke thanks for reaching out. the most recent version of firefox needs a workaround. please see the following post:

thanks for reporting the issue @jsweeps. the audio files present in distill are in ogg format. firefox is refusing to play those files in the extension’s context. mp3 files work well. the workaround right now is to add your own audio files under the extension’s settings. some good mp3 audio files can be downloaded from the following links: https://pixabay.com/sound-effects/search/ping/ https://pixabay.com/sound-effects/search/bell/ i will check firefox’s bugzilla to see if this is a known is…

That helps, but can you please elaborate on how to upload mp3 files? I did not see an avenue to do that under settings.

I could not find the tool to upload new tones. My settings do not look the same as the screen shot you shared with me. Is it possible your screen shot is from a previous version?

notice the url in the address bar. this is the web app’s settings. you need to go to the extension’s watchlist and its settings.

to go to the extension’s watchilst after you have installed the browser extension, click the distill icon in browser toolbar and then click “go to watchlist”.

I was able to upload the file sonar-ping.MP3, but!! I see no way to select that MP3 as the notification sound. See the below screen captures.

P.S. Actually, I uploaded “sonar-ping-95840.mp3”.
P.S. P.S. I was not able to get Chrome to work either . . . either by using the default sound files or by uploading "sonar-ping-95840.mp3

In addition to the audio notifications still not working, the pop up notifications are not either.

I see no way to select that MP3 as the notification sound. See the below screen captures.

the watchlist’s screenshot is from the web app at monitor.distill.io. you need to go to the extension’s wachlist to be able to use the custom audio files. click distill’s teardrop icon in the browser toolbar and then click “go to watchlist”. this will open the extension’s watchlist. you should be to use your customized tone.

I was not able to get Chrome to work either

another factor - if a monitor is configured to use a condition, the condition can prevent actions from being triggered. make sure that the condition evaluates to true for the desired change. what does the notification status show for changes recorded in change history? see https://distill.io/docs/web-monitor/using-conditions-to-get-alert-on-important-changes/#how-to-find-out-which-condition-triggered-the-alert
