Add email rejecting valid address with "invalid email"

I’m trying to add a Distill-specific email address to send notifications to. Gmail automatically supports specialized addresses - if someone has the address “bob@gmail.com” they can always make up a custom address by appending a + and then a new identifier, e.g. “bob+distill@gmail.com”. This way all emails sent to “bob+distill@gmail.com” will land in the same inbox as “bob@gmail.com”, but then mailbox rules can process them explicitly, e.g. tag them, alert on them, etc.

But when I try to use my regular gmail address (the same as on my account) and append “+distill”, the UI just throws an error saying “invalid email”. This is pretty annoying.

Is there a workaround? Can you guys fix it please? Thanks!

We previously allowed aliased emails, but had to discontinue the feature due to abuse.

As an alternative, you can set up a Gmail filter for messages from alert@distill.io to automatically label or process notifications as needed.
