Firefox does not start the extension when it's Home Page - it has to be reloaded manually

I am trying to run the Distill Firefox extension as a “web app” i.e. in its own instance of Firefox. The extension URI is assigned as Home Page, so it should work. However, the extension does not actually load on Firefox startup - it displays the URI in the address bar and just sits there. It requires a page refresh (Ctrl-R) to show the Watchlist. Is this something that can be remedied?

(Firefox 138.0.1 on Linux Mint 22.1)

@morciej is using chromium instead of firefox? firefox addon updates are currently not being published at amo. we plan to publish distill hosted version later this year.

I am not using the Chromium-based app because I don’t like Chromium. I think Firefox does not start extensions when loaded as start page, by design. I just press Ctrl-R to start the extension, check my sites, then close the Firefox “web app” and forget about it until the next system restart. I don’t use scheduled checks, just do it manually. Good enough.

got it, thanks for the update. we will look into this once we update the firefox addon later this year.
